I WAS WRONG – Profound Impact

Making an impact in your life can only happen if the things you hear, the things you read and the things you see are understandable to you.  Sometimes it’s confusing because every author has a different life experience and background than the reader.  Most authors presume their audience is capable of understanding what they write, or might even boast that the reader who can’t understand what they read needs to take reading lessons…or just go away.

I Was Wrong. Making a profound impact.

I don’t want to be like that author.  Why on earth would I want Continue reading I WAS WRONG – Profound Impact

The Question and the Vission

TakeTheNextBigStep.comGreetings my friend.

I skipped my post earlier today because I spent the day doing a regroup.  I got confused and distracted about something.  Maybe you can relate.

I was asking myself the question, “How can I get you to care about what I think is important?”

SILLY QUESTION.

I CAN’T get you to do anything of the sort, right?  I can only tell you who I am, where I’ve been and where I’m going.  If who I am, where I’ve been and where I’m going resonates with you, you might choose to join me on the journey of a lifetime!

If you aren’t at least a little Continue reading The Question and the Vission

What do you love to do when you’re not working?

I was asked a question today that I need to answer.  My thoughts might be fun for you to reflect on also.  The question, “What do you and your family love to do when you’re not working?”

The simplest answer…  We love to visit the ocean.  Charleston, South Carolina is one of the favorite places we returned to a number of times.

Now that the kids are grown, some of our favorite gatherings revolve around family reunions.  My youngest daughter pointed out that next year might be a very good time to plan our next family reunion.

Our family reunions revolve around times when all of my siblings are in the same country at the same time.  My youngest sister is a full-time resident of Mexico where she and her family have been missionaries for the last seven years.   Now that our kids are growing up, getting all the kids and their spouses together becomes even more challenging.

There have been several Continue reading What do you love to do when you’re not working?

The Nightcap Part 3 – Action

Public and Private Issues

Last time I mentioned that some people hesitate to publicly admit they have problems.  It’s especially difficult to make admissions with people from the community that you already know.  We want to look like everything is being handled and we’ve got everything together and under control.  We dress for success, put on our game face and pretend that everything is okay.

The problem is, for many, everything is NOT okay.  We say things are going well, but we aren’t being totally honest.  It’s difficult to say that you’re having struggles that keep you stuck.  We pretend everything will be fine, but take no action to make them better.  We’re ashamed to tell anyone what is really going on.

Like I mentioned, if you hesitate to join a local support group…and many people feel uncomfortable joining a local face-to-face group, I developed a solution that can help!

Contentment and Dissatisfaction

We don’t change until the pain of staying the same is greater than the perceived pain of change.  We prefer to believe that everything is going well, or as well as it can be.  But there’s often a part of us that isn’t completely satisfied with keeping things the same way they’ve always been.  We yearn for something better because we know it’s out there.  We don’t always know what to look for but we know the way things have always been done just doesn’t cut it anymore.  While some people wait till pain forces them to change.  Others “get it” and choose to grow and invest in their future knowing that Bigger and Better is out there.  Sometimes understanding the importance of investing in our future happens after the pain of loss.

We long for something Continue reading The Nightcap Part 3 – Action
